CAVALIER HOUSE BOOKS – MAIN STREET BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

The Main Street Business award is meant for a business that has upgraded, revitalized or historically preserved a location in Livingston parish.   This year, John and Michelle Cavalier of Cavalier House Books is the recipient of that award.
Cavalier House Books started as a home-based business when John and Michelle were in college in 2005.  In 2009, they signed their first store front lease and in 2022, they purchased the Crowder Antiques Building located in downtown Denham Springs, with a promise to Mrs. Crowder that they would love it as she did.
The building was built in 1927 and was originally known as the Brown Hotel & Café.  It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Through its years, it been the home to a hotel, café, retail space, office space and now – a bookstore and more.
The location brings in artists and authors adding to the vibrance of the Denham Springs Historic District.
Congratulations again to CAVALIER HOUSE BOOKS – MAIN STREET BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
