DENHAM SPRINGS, LA – A decade ago, Duke’s Seafood & Steakhouse opened its doors with a simple goal: serve great food, rooted in local flavor, with a whole lot of heart. Ten years later, while much has changed, the heart of Duke’s remains the same.

“Dynamics have changed. Names have changed. But some things are just the same as they’ve always been,” said owner Duke Landry. “I’m still doing what I’ve done my entire life—serving the food I grew up on, and always adding something new for folks to enjoy.”

Over the years, Duke’s Seafood has become a local favorite known for its fresh Gulf seafood, steaks, and signature oysters. What started as a hometown restaurant has grown into a celebrated Louisiana staple, earning a loyal following and recognition across the country.

Nationally Recognized Oyster Champion

Duke Landry isn’t just known for his cooking—he’s known for his world-class oyster shucking skills. His passion for oysters has taken him from Denham Springs to international competitions, earning him national and global acclaim:

  • Five-time U.S. National Oyster Shucking Champion

  • Former U.S. record holder for shucking 24 oysters in record time—a title he held for 25 years

  • Top-ten finisher internationally, including 6th place at the Oyster Shuck-Off World Cup in Beijing

  • 13th place at the World Oyster Shucking Championship in Ireland

Landry continues to mentor new shuckers, sharing his speed, precision, and pride in Louisiana’s seafood heritage.
