Administrative Assistant - Operations Support - Job Description
Location:  Livingston Parish Chamber - Denham Springs

This is an opportunity to work with the Livingston Parish Chamber, one of the premier organizations serving Livingston Parish.  We are listing this as an administrative position, because it is, but it is so much more!  Having the opportunity to work with the business community and its stakeholders through Chamber operations is gratifying, purposeful work.  

About us:  The Chamber is a business organization whose priority is to serve the Livingston Parish Business Community.  We do this by working with Livingston Parish businesses and our stakeholders on members services, marketing, business information, programing, programming events and committees.  We are involved is several community projects each year that are sponsored and initiated by local business leaders. 

The position will be directly assisting the Chamber's VP of Operations with the current workload of the Chamber.  The environment is a small staff environment that works with a large number of volunteers through committee and events.  The administrative assistant will be responsible for: 

  • Processing payments and billings 
  • Work with assigned committees 
  • Handle all Committee and council reminders 
  • Maintain office and operations records 
  • Work with members and prospective members 
  • Keeps the office entrances in order and coordinates facilities scheduling
  • Schedule member events and event calendars up to date
  • Reporting, attendance and other data up to date
  • Communications assistance

While the priority is to have assistance with the areas listed above, applicants who have the ability to train and assist in the following areas will be given consideration of filling additional any of the additional roles including:
  • Press releases and communications
  • Graphics 
  • Social media
  • Photography and video
  • Email correspondence to a wide audience
  • Event support
  • Member development
Salary - to start, with growth for the willing candidate:  $12:50 - $17:00 per hour depending on background, experience, advance in knowledge and necessary oversight.  
Hours - average 20 hours per week.  
Flexible - the Chamber is flexible as can be and considerate of schedules outside of work.

Must be proficient at minimum in Microsoft applications, Word, Excel, Outlook and have the ability to learn and utilize Chamber specialty software.
