Description
HOPE Ministries / The Way to Work will hold its renowned Understanding
the Dynamics of Poverty Workshop on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at HOPE of Baton
Rouge, 4643 Winbourne Avenue from 8:30am - 3:30pm. This workshop is open to the
public for a fee of $199 ($175 for Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce Members), including lunch. Registration can be found at www.hopebr.org/dynamics-of-poverty.
For years, HOPE/The Way to Work has led the community in research-based poverty
reduction education and strategies. Since the workshop’s inception in 2009, almost 400
companies and organizations across the state and region have gained a greater understanding
of the behaviors and barriers faced by their clients, employees, and neighbors. Over 50% of
Louisiana residents live in poverty or are Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed as
defined by the United Way. The workshop is updated regularly as new local and national
research becomes available. Understanding the Dynamics of Poverty is highly recommended
for anyone who works with those raised in or near the poverty line, including clergy,
teachers, social workers, employers, community volunteers, and anyone who seeks to make a
difference for our community.
The Understanding the Dynamics of Poverty training is approved for six(6) continuing
education hours by the National Association of Social Workers, Louisiana Chapter, as
authorized by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners.
HOPE’s Mission: Prevent homelessness. Promote self-sufficiency and dignity. For
