Livingston Parish Business and Community information

If you're on social media for business, you’re one of many voices. It’s hard to stand out and cultivate an audience of people who want to hear from you…let alone look eagerly for your content. Wouldn’t that be great?

Are you tired of the words “new normal” yet? If you're like most business owners, you probably are. But whether we recognize it as a new shift in how we do business or a temporary tack we take to survive the current economic storm, the point is how you do business has to change if you want to continue to connect to your audience.

When business owners complain that their social media efforts aren't paying off and they just aren't seeing a return in their investment of time, it’s usually because they’re using the Jackson Pollack approach to social. They’re simply “flinging” paint on a canvas. There’s no goal behind what they’re doing. It’s random.

Don’t be the person (or business) who always talks about themselves. Instead, about 80% of your posts should be about things that are valuable to your audience. The other 20% can be about your business but those posts should still be of interest to your audience. Figure out what your ideal demographic cares about and communicate those aspects of your business.
