  • Livingston Parish Day at the Capitol – The Chamber assisted the President Delatte’s office on their launch of this event.
  • I-12 Corridor – Day at the Capitol – bringing this back for its 3rd year.

  • Leadership Class – Day at the Capitol
  • Richard Nelson – LA Department of Revenue / Secretary on the ballot amendment. 
  • Note:  The Chamber supported this amendment which would have resulted in teacher increases in salary, less tax of seniors and the option for local district to eliminate inventory tax, which would have benefited business and especially Livingston Parish.  Although the amendment was defeated statewide, Livingston Parish did support it.

Community Initiatives - Better Lp 

You’ve shown that you want to  be involved here – besides the GALA - which offers funding support both directly to the Chamber Foundation and indirectly supporting the costs of these initiatives  - here is what we announced this year.
Over $80,000 in investments and over 1000 hours of time invested.  We revealed the following project this year and engaged in these initiatives this year. 

Leadership Livingston Project Reveals:
  • Walker Disc Golf Park –
    • New 18-acre course in Walker. Revealed
  • Sweet Dreams –
    •  Project Reveal / offering beds to help place children in foster care.
  • Dog People of Livingston Parish –
    • Revealed updates to their new facility that spays and neuters pets at low cost helping with the animal control issue in our parish.
  • Bullet Proof Vests for K-9’s at LPSO
    • These dogs enter situations daily where they are at risk of being shot.  The vests were purchased for use in these situations. 
  • Pine Ridge Library –
    • With duct tape holding one of the desks together, the project solved that problem by purchasing new ones.  Plus, carts, seating areas for students and bookcases.
