Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce News Release

22 Graduate from Leadership Livingston Program
On June 22, 2017, the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce hosted a graduation ceremony for the Leadership Livingston class of 2017. This class, nicknamed “The Flood Class”, marked the conclusion of the programs fifth year.
Each year the class is divided into three groups tasked with completing community projects. This year’s community projects were “Supporting Our Seniors”, “Rebuild & Restore” and “Restore Mighty Moms”.  Volunteers put in over 790 service hours with an impact value exceeding $23,000.  “Supporting Our Seniors” focused on providing seniors with the Council on Aging much needed equipment and supplies lost in the August 2016 flood. “Rebuild & Restore” partnered on efforts to rebuild homes by providing physical labor to rebuild three family homes. Lastly, “Restore Mighty Moms” focused on restoring the Mighty Moms food pantry and getting it back in service.  Mighty Moms entire food pantry was lost from the flood waters.
 
Each group selected one individual they felt went “Above & Beyond” to insure the projects were successful. This year’s recipients were Nicole Jarreau, EFCU Financial; Nikki Sykora , Postlethwaite & Netterville and Sarah Colombo, Livingston Parish Library.  The Leadership Service Award was presented to George McCallum, Quality Engineering & Surveying , for exceptional volunteer service.
 
Leadership Class sponsors North Oaks Health System and First Guaranty Bank were also recognized as well as venue sponsor, Suma Hall Community Center.

About Leadership Livingston: Leadership Livingston is a program of the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce Leadership is for any existing or potential leader who resides or works in Livingston Parish. Participants undergo 10 months of instruction focused on development, community services, and professional growth. Each attends at least one outside social, civic or community event, have active involvement in their community project.
