Job Description
Gator Millworks is searching for a self-motivated person to add to its estimating department. This person must enjoy working in a fast paced environment. 

The Architectural Millwork Industry is a challenging industry with high expectations from general contractors and project owners. 


The Estimator is responsible for scope identification, quantity takeoffs, pricing exercises and determining scope changes on new and existing projects. Applicants must be responsible, reliable and able to organize a high volume of detailed projects. 
  • Review bid invitations, leads and opportunities and enter project information into Focal* to organize, schedule and track bed information.
  • Download and organize plans, specifications and addenda.
  • Read and interpret Architectural/Interior Design Drawings and Specifications. 
  • Perform millwork takeoffs from Architectural and Interior Design drawings. This includes determining and highlighting millwork scope and organizing data for pricing procedures.
  • Reviewing documents from General Contractors and Owners, such as RFIs, Addenda, ASIs. ASKs, Bulletins, etc. to determine changes to existing millwork scope. 
  • Assist owners, contractors and designers with budget pricing and Value Engineering strategies. 
  • Organize and finalize bid documents. 
  • Attend Pre-bid Meetings and make site visitations to determine, clarify or understand the scope of work and/or logistics. 
  • Fill out pre-bid or pre-qualification forms.
  • Operate computer estimation software to prepare bid materials.
  • Contact vendors to request budget pricing on specified items and establish effective customer and vendor/subcontractor rapport for optimal pricing strategy. 
  • Creating internal RFIs for architects, designers and contractors on any unclear scope or takeoff items. 
  • Participate in weekly planning meetings.
  • Meet with Estimating Team to review jobs, confirm take-offs and collaborate on final pricing. 
  • Follow up with customers on estimates, that status of projects and upcoming work. 
  • Hand over awarded projects to the Project Management Team by preparing complete and thorough buyout packages and meeting on any special details or requirements. 
  • Review subcontracts to confirm pricing, details and scope. 
  • Prepare Change Order Requests or supplemental pricing for Project Managers. 
Minimum Requirements: 
  • Ability to read and interpret Architectural/Interior Design Drawings and Specifications.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Superior communication and organization skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products. 
  • Knowledge of the millwork industry is preferred.
